Adams and Reese Partner Bill Shea is among the 2023 Honoree Class of “Distinguished Alumni” of Southern University Law Center.
From March 29-April 1, SULC is hosting several events that recognize Judicial Wall of Fame, Hall of Fame, and Distinguished Alumni honorees. There is a Distinguished Alumni reception at the Shaw Center for the Arts on March 30.
The SULC Distinguished Alumni include Shea, LaToya Jones Burrell, Patrick Celestine, Tony Heidelberg, Petrina Johns, and Cory Roy. The SULC Judicial Wall of Fame include Hon. Erika Green, Hon. Tonya Lurry, and Hon. Briana Westry. The 2023 SULC Hall of Fame honorees are Andre Gauthier, Kimberly Holmes, Trey Morris, Dewun Settle, and Edwin Shorty.
Shea is a 2004 graduate of the Southern University Law Center. Since graduating from SULC, Shea has practiced in the Baton Rouge office of Adams and Reese, where he is a Partner, and formerly served as Baton Rouge Partner in Charge from 2014-2018.
The majority of Shea’s legal practice is focused on insurance regulatory and administrative law, though he also practices commercial litigation. Shea is one of only seven lawyers in Louisiana rated by Chambers USA in the area of insurance. He has also been recognized in the area of insurance law by Best Lawyers, and further recognition from Super Lawyers.
In the community, Shea currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Louisiana Appleseed, a nonprofit pro bono based organization that seeks justice, opportunity and education by solving problems at their root cause. He is also a board member of the Baton Rouge Chamber, and served as its General Counsel in 2016. Shea is a 2015 graduate of the Leadership Louisiana program of Council for a Better Louisiana. Shea is a member of the Country Club of Louisiana, the Krewe of Thoth and Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
