Adams and Reese Litigation and Construction Partner Alec Taylor will be a guest panelist at the 2025 American Bar Association Fidelity and Surety Law Midwinter Conference, to be held Jan. 15-17 in Austin, Texas.
Taylor, joined by Jessica Derenbecker (Arch Insurance Group Inc.) and Daniel Pentecost (Westfield Insurance) will speak on “Surety Financing.” They will discuss how the landscape and the surety’s appetite for financing has changed following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The panelists will also discuss the factors to consider when analyzing the economic feasibility of financing the principal, and recent case law involving the protection of the penal sum of the bond in a financing situation.
Practicing since 2008, Taylor is a Partner in the Adams and Reese Jackson office. With a broad litigation background, including complex commercial litigation and construction litigation, Taylor primarily focuses his practice on the representation of sureties in all aspects of the claims process. This includes advising sureties on performance bond claims with complex, multi-project contractor defaults prior to litigation, handling of payment and performance bond claims during litigation, and the institution of indemnity actions against defaulting principals and indemnitors to assist in the recovery of losses and expenses incurred by the surety due to its issuance of the bonds in question.
Taylor also represents sureties in connection with claims made on financial institution bonds, public official bonds, and conservatorship/guardianship bonds.
Taylor has successfully litigated cases in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy courts, and in arbitrations across the southern United States.
