Lou Ursini is an experienced financial services litigator with over two decades of nationwide experience representing national and regional retail banks, lenders, fintech providers, online payment processing servicers, investors, credit card issuers, mortgage servicers, and debt buying and collection professionals. Lou maintains a practice for our clients with an established local counsel network acting as national coordinating counsel for some of the largest financial institutions, overseeing a portfolio of individual and class action cases. His expertise extends to a wide range of legal issues, including claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Credit Billing Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and various state consumer collection and telemarketing acts.

In addition to his role as coordinating counsel, Lou also serves as managing counsel for various financial institutions, including a top-five national bank in Florida, responding to garnishments, levies, freeze orders, and civil and criminal subpoenas. With more than fifteen years of experience in this capacity, Lou has developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges and daily issues that arise in the context of retail and investment account garnishments. He leads a team that skillfully handles these matters, ensuring efficient and effective resolutions in protecting our client’s interests. Recently, Lou also supervised the Firm's preparation and production of multiple 50-state legal surveys for banking clients, focusing on garnishment laws and state-specific exemptions to protect consumer funds or accounts.

Lou approaches legal matters with a forward-thinking strategy, considering the broader implications for his clients' business goals. He maintains a keen attention to detail and instills this standard throughout his team. His ability to identify overlooked facts and issues helps uncover opportunities and mitigate risks. Lou possesses the expertise to discern when to prioritize small matters that could potentially escalate into significant challenges for his clients.

While his primary practice area is financial services litigation, Lou also represents clients in various other areas. He is a skilled commercial litigator who handles shareholder disputes, governance matters, contested foreclosures, corporate divorces, real estate litigation, probate and trust litigation, class action litigation, adversary bankruptcy proceedings, and construction litigation. His background in finance, complemented by an MBA, strengthens his ability to provide comprehensive advice to banking and corporate clients, effectively bridging the gap between legal proceedings and their organizational impact.

Apart from his professional achievements, Lou's easygoing nature and wide range of interests beyond the legal, financial, and business realms enable him to establish personal connections with his clients. He values building strong relationships, often leading to lasting friendships beyond the resolution of legal matters.
