Four Adams and Reese attorneys – Mitch Boult, Ray Ferrera, Kristina Montanaro Schrader, and Maia Woodhouse – are honored as IP Stars in the 2023 Managing IP selections. Boult is recognized as an IP Star in Trademark Law; Ferrera as an IP Star in Patent Law; and Schrader and Woodhouse, for the second consecutive year, were selected as “Rising Stars”.
Since 2018, Managing IP has recognized the best up-and-coming intellectual property practitioners in private practice who have contributed to the success of their firms and clients. Managing IP’s research involves analyzing firm submissions, practitioner surveys, client feedback, and public information.
Mitch Boult, Adams and Reese Executive Committee Member and Partner in the Nashville office, has played a leading role in the IP practice since joining the firm in 2005. He is frequently honored for his national and international IP representation. He represents clients in multi-jurisdictional IP litigation and serves as lead advisor on branding campaigns throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. With more than 9,000 trademarks under management, Boult and the IP team devise commercial and legal tactics to drive brand value, fortify brand strength, and lower the cost of global trademark portfolios. Boult has served on the International Trademark Association’s Emerging Issues Committee, and Fair Use and Other Boundaries Subcommittee.
Ray Ferrera, Partner in the Adams and Reese Houston office, is a U.S. Patent Attorney and the team leader of the firm’s Patent Team. Practicing in IP for close to 30 years, Ferrera advises clients on how best to protect, manage, and monetize international IP rights. He has obtained numerous multimillion-dollar results for clients around the world in a wide variety of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and other IP matters. He has established and enforced IP rights in over 100 countries and has experience acquiring and enforcing IP assets throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Kristina Montanaro Schrader, Partner in the Adams and Reese Nashville office, is the firm’s Anti-Counterfeiting Team Leader. She crafts modern brand and content protection strategies for a wide range of multinational businesses as counterfeiting cuts across virtually every product sector. Schrader previously served as an executive at the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition, and she worked in-house at Gucci America and Dolce & Gabbana USA. Schrader is a frequent speaker on issues related to IP enforcement, payment processing and the growing incidence of infringement on the dark web.
Maia Woodhouse, Partner in the Adams and Reese Nashville office, is a first-chair intellectual property litigator with her practice focused on global IP litigation and enforcement. An experienced trademark litigator, Woodhouse prosecutes and defends against motions for temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions in “bet-the-company” IP disputes. Woodhouse has been published in multiple media outlets, including Intellectual Asset Management and IP Watchdog, and is a frequent speaker on protecting, managing, and monetizing intellectual property assets.
