Adams and Reese business immigration attorney Mary Kate Fernandez will lead an online webinar on Jan. 15 for the AASA, The School Superintendents Association, the premier association for school system leaders and the national voice for public education and district leadership on Capitol Hill.
The webinar is titled, “Immigration Policy and Enforcement in 2025: What Superintendents Should Understand.” The webinar will kick off online on the AASA website on Jan. 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. central.
The Trump Administration has signaled interest in making significant updates to U.S. immigration policy and enforcement that will affect public schools. Fernandez will provide guidance on how to prepare students and staff in the coming months.
The webinar will cover:
- A review of Plyler v. Doe and related federal restrictions on sharing student data;
- Employment implications for DACA recipients;
- The outlook for the J-1 and H-1B visa programs; and
- Best practices for working with immigration agents and supporting students
