The Adams and Reese Baton Rouge office hosted high school students from the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, “Fire Starter Project,” as students learned from attorneys and administrators about legal careers and job pathways.
Susan Eccles, Baton Rouge Partner in Charge, and Kristen Viator Mouton, Regional Office Manager, Baton Rouge, spoke to the students about the importance of educational opportunities, skills needed to fulfill particular jobs within a law firm, and the various pathways young people can pursue to land jobs and careers in the legal field.
Students also learned about the many diverse practice areas represented at Adams and Reese, including construction, insurance, litigation, and governmental relations. The students in this particular program were in Baton Rouge on April 11 for the start of legislative session and as part of their government and politics sector.
The Fire Starter Project is a leadership program for high school students in Iberia Parish. The year-long program aims to provide learning experiences in leadership, communication skills, team-building, and networking. Participants take part in monthly seminars and/or field trips to develop skills as future leaders of their community.
Adams and Reese has many community service mentorship and career pipeline programs that assist both high school and law students in pursuing legal careers.
