Katie Hamilton is a member of the Adams and Reese Litigation Practice Group. Katie represents businesses in commercial litigation, construction litigation, intellectual property litigation, and employment defense litigation. She is experienced on a wide range of issues impacting businesses and employers.

Before law school, Katie gained business experience prior to receiving an undergraduate degree in business management. Due to her deep understanding of business strategy and forward thinking, Katie is prepared with creative strategies and legal solutions that fit into the needs of a business. She works proactively with clients, providing trainings on issues that would prevent litigation and advising them of risks that could lead to litigious matters. She cultivates an environment where clients are comfortable being honest with her without judgment. This has led to resolution of issues before a case is even filed or considered.

Katie manages cases from inception through trial, including all stages of the litigation and/or arbitration process, such as investigating case facts and analyzing risk; developing case strategy; drafting and answering petitions; motions; discovery requests and responses; handling depositions; negotiating settlement; mediation; arguing motions, including successful motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motion to exclude a pertinent trial witness; working with clients on trial and arbitration final hearing preparation, including witness and expert preparation, jury instructions, motions in limine, exhibits, and determining trial and arbitration strategy; and representing clients at trial and in arbitration final hearings, including presenting opening and closing arguments, questioning witnesses, and handling intra-trial motions. Katie has both jury and bench trial experience.

A Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native, Katie started her career in Iowa where she litigated a variety of cases. Katie formerly interned for the Iowa Supreme Court. Katie was the valedictorian at Drake University Law School. She was a staff member of the Drake Law Review; participated in the C. Edwin Moore Moot Court oral argument competition; and belonged to Drake Law Women and Delta Theta Phi.
