Overview
Lawyer and lobbyist Matthew Paxton serves as the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Washington D.C. office. Matt’s federal practice focuses primarily on maritime law and policy, fisheries law, natural resources development and environmental and energy policy issues. With his deep understanding of the inner workings of the appropriations and authorizations committees of Congress, Matt navigates his clients through the maze of the legislative process to help them develop and reach their strategic goals.
Additionally, clients retain Matt repeatedly because of his regulatory experience with the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Labor and other federal agencies, and because he treats them with the same respect and responsiveness he demonstrated with Senators when he was a senior counsel on a Senate commerce committee.
Matt is the president and spokesman of the Shipbuilders Council of America, working directly with the CEOs of companies that employ hundreds of thousands of people who build and repair Navy, Coast Guard
