Overview

Tyson Shofstahl’s practice centers on general, pharmaceutical, and mass and complex toxic tort litigation. He advocates for a variety of product manufacturers, distributors and retailers, contractors, premises owners and employers. Tyson represents a variety of product manufacturers (boilers, steam generators, furnaces, cat crackers, container vessels, refractory, gaskets, packing), distributors/retailers, contractors, premises owners and employers in mass/complex toxic tort litigation. He also defends suits involving a variety of claimed pathogens including: asbestos, silica, pesticides/insecticides, chemicals, toxic soups, grain dust and mold.

Tyson practices in the areas of pharmaceutical drug liability (PPA, prescription pain medication, anti-depressants and anti-psychotics), products liability (HVAC systems, bathroom and kitchen products, water heaters, scaffolding, welding hoses, grinding wheels, winches), general casualty, construction litigation, insurance law, professional liability and maritime law.

Tyson has been admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, all US District Courts in Louisiana, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the US Supreme Court. He has been a registered lobbyist, serving a number of corporations and trade associations, including the nationwide American Chemistry Council. He has also testified before the Louisiana legislature and drafts and lobbies for litigation-related statutes there.

As an educator, Tyson has taught as a designated faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA®), including the annual Gulf Coast Deposition Program for several years. He has served on the adjunct faculty at Loyola University School of Law.

In 2007 and 2010-2014 he was listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers® (by Thomson Reuters) Products Liability, and in 2009 was named a Top Lawyer by New Orleans Magazine®. He is also AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
